Abstract

Human spaceflight has transitioned from a government run enterprise to an increasingly commercial driven endeavor. New companies are sending humans into space under an array of different conveyances and without the resource of institutional medical experience. For these companies, a standard medical kit is needed to treat patients at the launch site. Though no such medical kit is currently defined, there exist analogs that share characteristics with commercial spaceflight and provide insight into what the requirements of a new medical kit could be. The specific aim of this capstone is to systematically review existing literature on commercial spaceflight analogs and define the requirements of a medical kit for commercial spaceflight.
