Abstract

Postcard of the Delaware Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. "Wilmington was settled by the Swedish in 1638 on the banks of the Christiana River and named Christianaham, this was taken by the Dutch in 1655, with the English taking control in 1664. The city of Wilmington was laid out in 1731. It is now the largest city in Delaware and is important for its large domestic and foreign trade and its many large industries."
