| dc.description.abstract | Our nation faces many threats in this modern era, from natural disasters such as hurricanes to man-made disasters such as bioterrorism. Over the past 10 years, our disaster preparedness and response have evolved, though many shortcomings are still evident. Public health and medical considerations pose a particularly complex challenge. This Capstone explores how we have come to our current level of readiness, and where we can improve, by reviewing relevant legislation, roles and authorities of key governmental agencies, the National Incident Management System, and the National Health Security Strategy. | en_US |
