dc.description.abstractPostcard of the Memorial Hospital of Long Beach, California. "California's Space Age Medical Center Helicopter brings a patient to Memorial. The hospital's 550 Medical Staff members, 1,000 volunteers and 1,200 employees were recently cited by the California State Senate for 'unexcelled patient care and 60 years of dedicated service' and in the U.S. Congress for making 'Memorial one of the finest community medical centers in the country.' In 1967, even as its 545 beds ranked Memorial as the largest single non-government hospital on the West Coast, plans were adopted to expand more than 1,000 beds to keep pace wit the area needs."en_US
